Take your decoy carving to the next level in this intermediate-to-advanced workshop at Tuckerton Seaport. Work alongside master carver J. P. “Jamie” Hand to carve and paint a classic Tuckerton-area replica: the “Rowley Horner” Black Duck. Participants will create a hollow decoy from local Atlantic White Cedar and finish it using oil paints, with expert guidance throughout the process.
This class also offers carvers the opportunity to produce a piece that can be entered in the Tuckerton Decoy Show in September. Jamie Hand, a Cape May County decoy maker, has been carving traditional South Jersey decoys for over half a century.
