What do you associate with a hospital? Perhaps the words institutional, sterile, or isolated come to mind. This session explores our model for using multisensory play in bedside pediatric theatre. Performing for an audience as small as one patient, bedside pediatric theatre aims to reimagine a child’s hospital stay, bringing joy and healing through the art form of live theatre. Join us for a participatory workshop exploring how we develop multisensory bedside performances for pediatric patients ages 2 and up, using purposeful play to inspire imagination and honor the whole child. Together, we'll explore two pediatric bedside shows, "Let's Go Camping!" and "Color Quest," developed by guest artists, students, and faculty at University of Central Florida, Kennesaw State University, and Northwestern University.
This workshop will be lead by Elizabeth Brendel Horn.
