Ever wondered how
artists use plants to create colorful fabric dyes?
Learn from artist Teal Gardner techniques for using Madder (red), Indigo
(blue) and marigolds (yellow) to make three different plant-based dye baths.
Explore the techniques of folding, clamping, wrapping, and dipping to create
unique and artistic designs in your fabric.
Teal will guide you through the best way for preparing fabrics for dyeing,
from fabric selection, to washing, scouring and post-dyeing treatment that
will give your dyed goods the longest life possible and the skills to do this
at home.
Leave with four cotton kitchen towels and a silk scarf, plus any items you
bring.
All materials supplied as part of the workshop fee.
Participants welcome to bring in 1-2 small personal items made from natural
fiber (cotton, linen, wool, silk) to dye.
