To Be or Not to Be is a classic comedy-drama directed by Ernst Lubitsch, starring Jack Benny and Carole Lombard. Set in 1939 Warsaw, a theater troupe led by Joseph and Maria Tura uses their acting and disguise skills to outwit the Gestapo and prevent a spy from exposing the Polish resistance. Initially controversial for satirizing the Nazis during WWII, it is now preserved in the National Film Registry and cited as one of the greatest comedies of all time.
To Be or Not to Be is rated PG for mild violence (gunshots, war themes) and some suggestive dialogue. The film runs one hour and 39 minutes.
