The Art of the Stencil - A Creative Printing Workshop
With MCA Artist in Residence Julia Csekö
Stenciling is one of the most satisfying ways to play with negative space, design, composition, and printing. It’s a process that rewards both bold, simple shapes and intricate, detailed designs In this workshop, we’re moving away from the mass-produced and leaning into an artistic exploration of printmaking as a creative tool.
How it works:
Design & Create: You’ll spend the first part of the session sketching your ideas on paper, then tracing and cutting your own custom stencils.
Ink & Print: We’ll experiment with layering and placement. You can keep it clean and graphic or go for a more textured, experimental look.
Make it Yours: Use the provided tote bags to test your designs, or bring in your own items. Think upcycling: t-shirts, denim, textiles, canvas patches, or heavy paper.
Whether you’re a lifelong maker or just looking for a creative Saturday, this workshop is about the process and diving into your creativity. No previous experience required, just an interest in getting your hands a little bit dirty.
