As a child growing up in Los Angeles, Angel Stanislav Wang recalls that “classical music was always present. When I first heard the works of Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I ran to the piano, trying to repeat the beautiful harmonic shifts and endless melodies that captivated me when listening to these composers.”
Now 23, Wang has won more than 35 international competitions including a silver medal at the 2023 Tchaikovsky Competition.
This demonically difficult program, which includes both Liszt’s B minor Sonata and Stravinsky’s Three Movements from Petrushka, will showcase Wang’s commanding technique and unique artistic personality.
GRANADOS: Quejas o la Maja y el Ruiseñor (The Maiden and the Nightingale), from Goyescas, op. 11, no. 4
LISZT: Piano Sonata in B minor, LW A179
