Mahler's Symphony #3 | Frost Symphony Orchestra
Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 7:30PM

UM Gusman Concert Hall
1314 Miller Drive
Coral Gables, FL 33146

Gerald Schwarz, conductor

Robynne Redmon, vocal soloist

This program is devoted entirely to Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 in D minor. Often regarded as the longest symphony in the standard orchestral repertoire, this monumental work unfolds across six movements, organized into two parts: a colossal opening movement, followed by five contrasting movements that vividly evoke the beauty and spirit of nature. In an 1896 letter to Max Marschalk, Mahler describes the work as “A Summer’s Midday Dream.” Featuring an extensive ensemble including a women’s chorus, children’s chorus, and mezzo-soprano soloist, the symphony stands as one of Mahler’s most ambitious works.
