Experience Music for the Oceans, a powerful multimedia concert by Juilliard-trained composer Chad Cannon that brings the beauty and urgency of coral reef preservation to the stage. Presented in partnership with the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science and Ocean Awareness Week, this immersive performance blends live music, scientific insight, and stunning visual storytelling to explore one of the most critical environmental challenges of our time.

Coral reefs, often called the “rainforests of the sea,” support a vast diversity of marine life and play a vital role in coastal protection and global ecosystems. Yet today, these fragile systems are under unprecedented threat from rising ocean temperatures, pollution, and acidification, leading to widespread coral bleaching events that are occurring with increasing frequency and severity around the world.

Cannon’s score reflects both the wonder of these ecosystems and the fragility of their current state, while visual elements drawn from real-world research illuminate the environmental forces at play. The result is an evening that is as thought-provoking as it is moving; inviting audiences to engage emotionally and intellectually with the future of our oceans.
