ROMANTIC RAPTURE

Pick-Staiger Hall
Sunday, May 11, 7:30 p.m.

Scott Speck, Conductor
Benjamin Beilman, Violin

On Mother’s Day, Scott Speck returns for Romantic Rapture, an evening of great Romantic and post-Romantic masterworks.

Guest violinist Benjamin Beilman, 2012 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient and alumnus of Music Institute of Chicago, woos our audience with the singing strains of Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.

In celebration of Verdi's 200th birthday, we perform the Overture to his opera La forza del destino.

We also present highlights of Sergei Prokofiev’s most brilliant ballet, Romeo and Juliet. Specially selected actors from Chicago Shakespeare Theater perform highlights from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, portraying the most famous young lovers in theater history.
