Prince Hamlet returns from university to bury his father and attend the surprising and hasty marriage of his mother to his uncle. As Hamlet attempts to reconcile his grief he is visited by his father’s ghost who reveals a mystery that could destroy not only Hamlet’s family but the sovereignty of Denmark and his soul. Betrayed by family, lovers, and friends, Hamlet’s quest for truth and vengeance takes him deeper into danger and the labyrinth of his own mind than he ever thought possible. Prepare to be thrilled by the legendary speeches and unstoppable force of Shakespeare’s great revenge tragedy as Artistic Director Alexander Burns presents a breathtaking two and a half hour cutting which destroys the myth of the “Man Who Could Not Make Up His Mind.” HAMLET will be led by Quintessence ensemble member Josh Carpenter with fight choreography by Philadelphia’s own Fight Master Ian Rose.
