"Casablanca" and the Return of Film to the Palace
Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 6:00PM

United Palace
4140 Broadway @ 175th Street
New York, NY 10033
1 block east of the 175th Street A-train station, and 1 block south of a parking garage

Experience one of America’s favorite movies like you have never seen it before as we celebrate the return of film to the United Palace with the audience choice screening of “Casablanca.” The 1942 classic with an All-Star cast led by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman was the audience choice by contributors to the summer Indiegogo crowdsourcing campaign that raised nearly $50K in 40 days to return film to the Palace on a regular basis for the first time in over 40 years. At 6pm there will be a ceremony commemorating the return of film, including: a reenactment of part of the inaugural program from 1940 when the building opened as the Loew’s 175th Street Theatre, music from the 1940s, and more surprises. At 7pm, we’ll screen “Casablanca” on the Palace’s 50-foot silver screen with Spanish subtitles. The event is FREE for Golden Globe level contributors to the campaign or any who wear a tuxedo or gown (tickets will be distributed at the box office on the day of the event).
