Long shadows, hungry desires, sad clowns and devastating dreams. These are sparks in the devised theatre-making at the heart of THE SECRET PARIS PROJECT.

The Project features an ensemble of eight clowns as they explore the sad, queer world of Paris in the 1930s. Inspired by Brassaï's photographs from Le Monocle in Paris during this period, this ensemble of women is working within the fading art of clowning in order to breathe new life into our complex connections with queer histories in order to imagine undreamt utopias. Accompanied by a live percussionist, Abby Fisher, this new, breathtaking production questions desire and longing through the potent laughter and inescapable tears that can only be found in the mysterious world of clowns.

This project’s ensemble stars: Johana Barral, Corrie Blissit, Marjorie Conn, Lauren Durdach, Jamie Law, Jessica Ranville, Dana Scurlock and Kamaria Williams.

This production features original, live percussion by Abby Fisher. Costume design is done by Amalya Meira Goldberg. Scenic design by Bradley Wehrle. Lighting design by Rob Ross.

Charlene Deen is the production stage manager. This production is co-produced by The Secret Theatre (Richard Mazda, Artistic Director) and Clare Hammoor.

In connection with THE SECRET PARIS PROJECT there will be a post-show conversation with Circus Amok founder and performer, Jennifer Miller on April 19th, a post-show performance by internationally acclaimed, French singer-songwriter Marine Futin on April 25th and a post-show workshop discussion of devised theatre making with the ensemble of THE SECRET PARIS PROJECT and director Clare Hammoor on April 24th.
