Educators and community partners citywide are invited to rethink the concept of museums and cities as sites for educational experiences. El Museo as Classroom / City as School seeks to kindle conversations between educators and community partners, while engaging all participants in a hands-on, mixed media workshop centered on active learning. Come ready to play! This event pays homage to the founder of City and Country School, Caroline Pratt, and her groundbreaking contributions to progressive education; and to Raphael Montañez Ortíz, El Museo del Barrio’s founder and seminal artistic figure, and his emphasis on the pedagogical role of this cultural organization. This workshop is presented through a partnership with City and Country School in celebration of its centennial. Questions regarding this program can be directed to Mary Ann Bonet, Education Programs Coordinator, at educationprograms@elmuseo.org.
