Join Columbia Orchestra conductor and HCC faculty Jason Love in a recital of works mixing ancient stories and contemporary ideas. Pianist Rachel Franklin joins Love for masterpieces by Brahms and Debussy which mime the past while pressing towards the future. Our season’s theme of “blood” erupts in Mark Weiser’s work, an ancient power struggle for control of the Roman Empire in a contemporary setting for electric guitar and voice. And we explore the rich, flamboyant new music of Guillaume Connesson delving into the myth of an ancient city in one work and modern dance music on the other.
