15CU1: Dirty Paki Lingerie
Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 7:30PM

Roone Arledge Auditorium
Lerner Hall
New York, NY 10027

"The Columbia MSA is proud to announce that we will be hosting Aizzah Fatima in her critically acclaimed play Dirty Paki Lingerie. The Wall Street Journal has called it the play that ""Breaks down stereotypes of Muslim women in America"". Diry Paki Lingerie has been reviewed/featured in The Huffington Post, National Public Radio (All Things Considered), CBC, BBC, Backstage, and received rave reviews from critics and audiences in NYC, Toronto, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where we had sold out shows. Sex, politics, and religion collide as six Pakistani American women air their dirty lingerie in this one woman play by Aizzah Fatima. The characters that Fatima brings to life are vivid and wide-ranging. There is a young woman trying to get into a good college. There is a second generation Pakistani-American woman trying to marry off her daughter through classified ads. Another was a young single woman on a flight from Chicago to New York. The play is used to create a dialogue about the various themes it touches on including identity, bullying, sexuality, religion vs. culture, and racial profiling."
