The Planet Connections Opening Night Celebration is building bridges between artists of different religions, races, genders, sexual orientation and politics.

Planet Connections Theatre Festivity will present an evening of world premiere plays by Erik Ehn, Halley Feiffer, Israel Horovitz and Neil LaBute addressing censorship in the arts as part of Playwrights for a Cause, to be held at 7:30pm (doors open at 7pm) on June 14, 2015 at TBA.

Speakers include this seasons Planet Connections Playwrights:

Cecilia Copeland - speaking on the history of censorship of women in the arts

Kaela Mei-Shing Garvin - speaking on the censorship of environmentalist

Michael Hagins - speaking on the history of censorship of minorities in the arts

Mark Jason Williams - speaking on the history of censorship of LGBT artists

Panelists will include Muslim actors (performing at the event), Erik Ehn (a devout Catholic and presenting playwright), Israel Horovitz (a Jewish playwright also presenting), Halley Feiffer amongst other female playwrights, several African American artists, Asian-American playwrights, and LGBT performers/actors. The panel will be monitored by David Stallings (LGBT actor/writer) and Candice Fortin (African American producer). The panel discussion is expected to be a lively debate in which the artists attempt to build bridges despite different religions, races, genders and sexual orientations as we all attempt to understand the perspectives of others.
