2015 Writing Workshop: The Art and Craft of Fiction
with Anthony Marra
Friday, June 19, 2015 at 9:00AM

The Center, Hailey
314 S. 2nd Ave.
Hailey, ID 83333
Classroom to the side of the house

Monday-Friday, June 15th-19th, 9am-12pm, The Center's Hailey classroom, $350 / $400 nonmembers, Registration Deadline: Monday, June 1st

In this workshop, participants will focus on the art and craft of writing fiction. The class will read and discuss a few published short stories, reverse-engineering them to draw inspiration, lessons, and guidance to apply to individual work. The bulk of the workshop, however, is devoted to participant’s fiction. Additionally, the class will discuss strategies for making writing a part of our daily lives, reaching the end of a large writing project, revising, and publishing. A short story or novel excerpt (20 pages maximum) is due in advance. The workshop is a supportive space, and all are welcome, regardless of experience.

ANTHONY MARRA is the author of the New York Times bestseller A Constellation of Vital Phenomena, winner of the National Book Critics Circle's inaugural John Leonard Prize, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, the Barnes and Noble Discover Award, the California Book Award, and Greece’s Athens Prize for Literature. A National Book Award long list selection, Constellation was also a finalist for France’s Prix Médicis Étranger and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, among others. Marra received an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and was a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, where he now teaches as a Jones Lecturer in Fiction.
