Every year, Columbia Law Women’s Association hosts the Myra Bradwell Dinner to honor one member of the legal profession whose work has paved the way for future generations of female lawyers. This year, we will be honoring Chinyere Ezie '10. She is a civil rights lawyer and Staff Attorney at the Southern Poverty Law Center LGBT Rights Project, where her advocacy work focuses on LGBTQ persons in the South. Chinyere is lead counsel for Ashley Diamond, a transgender woman whose lawsuit successfully challenged Georgia's practice of denying transgender inmates safekeeping and medical care and received the backing of the U.S. Department of Justice. Prior to joining SPLC, Chinyere clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and worked as an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen, and Hamilton LLP. Chinyere is a William J. Fulbright Scholar and a graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School, where she served as President of the Columbia Outlaws and Editor in Chief of the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law.
