In light of the 400th anniversary of the great Bard’s passing, the lecture explores how emergent Shakespeare has become in modern life. Professor Emeritus Cooper focuses on the musical and visual works inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, and other lesser-known plays. Learn more about composers Felix Mendelssohn, Sergei Prokofiev, and Christos Hatzis; fanciful paintings and sculptures ranging from the 17th to 20th centuries; and costume designs that appear in motion pictures.
