Robert Carnochan conducts the Frost Wind Ensemble in a performance that depicts various composers’ and guest artists’ personal, spiritual, and futuristic travels. Karel Husa’s Music for Brass and Percussion explores his deep Czech heritage, while Carl Maria von Weber’s bassoon Sonata bridges the gap from the classical to romantic periods of music. The cornerstone of the program features the music of guest composer Joel Puckett, in his monumental work for solo trumpet and wind ensemble that describes the journey of human life from birth to death. The program concludes with Joel Puckett’s Asimov’s Aviary, which conjures visions of the future of our society, specifically as it relates to robotics and the development of "micro-drones” begun by Isaac Asimov in 1974.
