ABOUT
-----------

Fresh off the release of their debut album "Lunacy", indie-folk-hop trio MOONDRUNK are excited to return to their favorite playground, Ars Nova. It's the perfect venue for the band to explore the space where theater collides with modern music, humor with heartbreak, and indie with hip hop. This special performance features songs from the album, new tunes from original musicals in progress, live drawing, plus special guests including cast members of Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
-------------------------------

ANDREW BANCROFT is a writer, musician, director, and actor in New York. He performs in the hip hop group Freestyle Love Supreme alongside Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, with the indie folk trio Moondrunk, and in Employee of the Month (Joe’s Pub). Bancroft wrote, directed, and starred in the musicals Orpheus and Eurydice Are F***ing in Love (Ars Nova), Killing My Lobster Faces the Music (ODC), and Evolution the Musical(Illbilly). He recently appeared as “Big Trey” in ILLA: A Hip Hop Musical. His rapper alter ego Jelly Donut has been featured on Mtv’s TRL and in Rolling Stone and TIME. Bancroft was an award-winning writer/creative director at ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, and was host of Revision3’s The Digg Reel.

ASHLEY PÉREZ FLANAGAN’s recent and favorite credits include: Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 (u/s Sonya, Mary – Broadway, A.R.T.), Orpheus and Eurydice are F***ing in Love (Eurydice - Ars Nova), In Love with Jobim(The Girl - York Theatre), Prometheus Bound(Daughter of the Aether - A.R.T.), West Side Story (Rosalia, Maria u/s), Evita (Mistress), Once on This Island (Ti Moune), Footloose (Rusty), The Sound of Music (Liesel u/s, performed). Select New York workshops: A Moment in Time; Bull Durham; I’m Your Man; Flashdance; Beauty (Young Marguerite), Regina Spektor project. Concerts: Wunnerful Wunnerful! (Joe's Pub, Ars Nova); Moondrunk (Joe's Pub, Carnegie Hall), American Songbook Series w/ Lea Delaria, Jazz at Lincoln Center. Endless love to my amazing family and friends.

YAIR EVNINE is a classically trained cellist, guitarist who has performed, recorded, produced, and written with artists Duncan Sheik, Meow Meow, Alan Cumming, Lady Rizo, Sara Bareilles, Kylie Minogue, Taylor Mac, Justin Bond, Spencer Day and more. He performed in the La Jolla Playhouse production of The Nightingale by Sheik/Sater (Spring Awakening) and another Sheik/Sater musical currently in development. He co-composed the music for I Kiss Your Heart, a musical based on the love letters of Dylan Thomas (Soho Theatre in London, directed by Steve Marmion). Most recently, he works as a performer and orchestrator on the new Sara Bareilles Broadway production Waitress.

New York trio MOONDRUNK may be the only indie/folk/hip hop group on Earth. A love of songwriting, theater, and rap brought these three unique musicians together: Andrew Bancroft (vocals/guitar), Ashley Pérez Flanagan (vocals), and Yair Evnine (cello). The three also perform musical theater, and their original musical Orpheus and Eurydice Are F*cking In Love debuted in the 2015 Ars Nova ANT Fest. In 2016, Evnine made his Broadway debut in Waitress, and Flanagan made hers in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. The group has collaborated with John Medeski, and Bancroft performs in Freestyle Love Supreme with Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda. Moondrunk has performed at Carnegie Hall, Joe’s Pub, and a variety of other venues from New York to California. Every Moondrunk show features an eclectic mix of original music, including an audience-inspired freestyle rap. Their debut album Lunacy is available on iTunes.

“Seriously funny dialogue and beautiful music… smart, young, and creative.” (Stage Buddy)
