17CU0: Lottery for Dia: Beacon
A discussion and tour with Columbia GSAPP professor Galia Solomonoff
Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:30AM

Dia:Beacon
3 Beekman Street
Beacon, NY 12508

Note: Due to very limited capacity, this Museum Meetup is open only to current Columbia and Barnard students.

Join the Arts Initiative for a Museum Meetup roadtrip to Dia:Beacon. We will be joined by architect and Columbia GSAPP professor Galia Solomonoff, who in 2003 oversaw the conversion of a 1929 Nabisco box-printing factory into the 300,000 square foot daylight-only museum that is Dia:Beacon. The space has been recognized internationally for its design, as well as its environmental sustainability. The project was designed in collaboration with the artist Robert Irwin, whose first site-specific work for this space is now on view. Following the discussion, participants will have time to tour the galleries on their own.
