A memoir of actor/writer Bronwyn Rucker's friendship with legendary jazz artist Anita O'Day during her last years in New York City. It is a riff about women and art and jazz. It is a women's story as it draws parallels between Rucker, her mother, Anita and commitment to art. It is also a musical theatre piece as Ritt and Rucker improvise with the text and music that Anita sang during this time period. Anita O'Day (1919-2006) was an American jazz singer widely admired for her sense of rhythm and dynamics, and her early big band appearances that shattered the traditional image of the "girl singer".
