Great Noise Ensemble opens its 2018-2019 Season at Westmoreland Congregational United Christian Church with works by Alexandra Gardner, Marcos Balter, and Armando Bayolo. In our opening program with the full ensemble, we present a trip through landscapes, people and creatures that may or may not exist. Vixen is Alexandra Gardner’s road trip (literally, as the piece was written for the Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble’s ongoing tours of our National Parks) through the National Park system; Codex Seraphinianusis Marcos Balter’s take on the eponymous atlas of mythical creatures; and The Books of Bokonon is a musicological tour through the Island of San Lorenzo, from Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle. Take a trip with us. You never know who or what you’ll meet.
