CITY OF BLACK AND WHITE REVISITED ACOUSTIC TOUR
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his breakout album, City of Black & White, Mat Kearney decided to revisit some of his favorite songs off of the record and re-record them with a new perspective. Similarly, the City of Black & White Revisited Tour will feature Kearney's extensive, award-winning catalog in a rare intimate acoustic performance.
Years before he toured the world as a platinum selling, boundary-breaking artist, Mat Kearney grew up in Eugene, Oregon. It was during those teenage years that he developed his love for classic songwriting — the kind that transcends generations and genres. He'd strum chords on a friend's acoustic guitar, paving the way for a career that would eventually take him far away from Eugene.
Much has changed since those days in the Pacific Northwest. Even so, Kearney hasn't forgotten his musical roots. On his fifth album, CRAZYTALK, he mixes his most timeless songwriting to date with a wide, genre-bending set of interests. There are organic instruments, electronic samples, chill house grooves, tropical sounds, and collaborations with DJs like AFSHeeN, filous, and RAC all glued together by an emphasis on ageless hooks and thought-provoking lyrics. The result is one of the most adventurous, nuanced albums of his acclaimed career, filled with EDM drops one minute and acoustic guitars the next.
Kearney will bring songs from CRAZYTALK, City of Black & White, and all the albums in between to the Buskirk-Chumley stage. The doors will open for this reserved seating performance at 7pm.
Check out the VIP opportunity, which includes a meet & greet with the artist. VIP tickets must be purchased in addition to concert tickets purchased through this site.
Eli Teplin will be the opening act!
"Eli Teplin sings from the soul and writes from the heart; he's absolutely real and I love that about him...this cat has such a distinct voice and there's no doubt that he's got IT!"-Quincy Jones
Eli Teplin is a classically trained pianist, guitarist, songwriter and pop artist, who began as a local performer in Nashville and made his way to Los Angeles after being discovered and signed by Quincy Jones. The music that caught the attention of Mr. Jones and resulted in Eli’s signing to Quincy Jones’ international roster of artists, also landed Eli a spot on BMG's roster of chart-topping songwriters. Eli was quickly noticed by songwriter/producer Tobias Jesso Jr. (Niall Horan, Adele, Sia, John Legend), and Tobias shortly thereafter signed Eli to his publishing company as well.
With influences such as John Mayer, Brian Wilson, Bruce Hornsby and Billy Joel, Eli chases his own style of pop music, while placing an emphasis on his classical foundations. As a pianist and guitarist, Eli studied music in Boston at the New England Conservatory and later moved to Nashville to further his education at Vanderbilt University. His professors at the university recognized his high level of musicality in songwriting and believed in Eli’s extraordinary talents to pursue music. They were confident a broader audience would one day hear his songs.
