In this episodic play-making project, students will select material that speaks to them (poems, scenes, stories, song lyrics, visual art, tweets) that celebrate the taking of journeys both inner and outer. They will learn the art of devising as they interpret existing material and develop original work. Using a visual inspiration (road or river) the ensemble will curate a storytelling journey, where different scenes compose stops and detours along the way. The selection and order of the pieces together will tell a unique story. The project will culminate in the presentation of an anthology play, using theatrical and non-theatrical texts to create a theatrical piece. The directors invite participants to begin looking for source material that inspires them.
