Moderator: Lupe Gehrenbeck
Panelists:
Hope Azeda (Rwanda)
Diana Taylor* (US/NYU)
Vyana Preti (Venezuela/Miami)
Description:
Theatre’s extraordinary power of communication lies in the fact that it works on an emotional level. It is all about the human experience transposed into play, live, in real time, creating moments of connection and recognition between the public and what happens on stage.
Through its vast range of representation possibilities theatre expresses the particularities of culture, place and time allowing everyone to discover themselves on stage. As a result of this self-identification we can all find a catharsis, an emotional purge or a form of healing.
So herein lies the enormous social responsibility of theatre which we will address in this panel, exploring how it reaches far beyond the stage, transforming people's lives.
