A discussion with GCITA Award nominee Cayetana Guillen Cuervo, award winning actor from Spain, LinDa Saphan, a Cambodian artist and social anthropologist, who will also provide context for the work of Cambodian GCITA Award nominee Morm Sokly, and GCITA Award nominee South African Yaël Farber, a multiple award-winning director and playwright of international acclaim will round out the panelists. We’ll explore the context of the panelists’ work through the lens of social reform and authoritarianism. Firstly, we acknowledge: the pervasive dangers artists experience and how safety is the priority; and the United States’s role and status related to social reform and authoritarianism. Angel Gil Orrios, Artistic/Executive Director of Thalia Spanish Theatre of NY, will assist us with the translation for Cayetana Guillen Cuervo.
