A presentation of Southern Exposure: Performing Arts of Latin America, supported by Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation.

A man departs for the U.S.-Mexican border and vanishes. Amarillo, Texas, is the destination he never arrives at. In the distance, a woman yearns for his return as she reconstructs his body, imagines his probable itinerary and final words. Amarillo touches on the complex nature of individual and national identity in a time of exodus—both for those who leave, and those who are left behind. A multimedia visual production in Spanish, with English super-titles.

Amarillo can’t be classified. It is solid as rock, heartrending scenic poetry, brutal and beautiful.” Milenio (Mexico City) - Jaime Chabaud - 03/07/2009

Teatro Línea de Sombra was founded in 1993 by Jorge A. Vargas, one of Mexico's most prominent contemporary directors. Under his direction, and through a process of collaboration with the actors, Línea de Sombra has emerged as one of the leading Mexican touring ensembles and has received international acclaim for its distinctive theatrical and visual productions that combine movement, projections, layered sound scores and other forms of mixed media.

TeatroStageFest is a production of the Latino International Theater Festival of New York, Inc. (LITF/NY), a non-profit organization that promotes and supports U.S. Latino theater companies, and introduces multicultural and multi-generational audiences of New York to groundbreaking theater productions from Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain. Since its inaugural festival in 2007, TeatroStageFest has showcased nearly 1,000 local and international artists, and continues to program educational workshops, conferences, panel discussions, staged readings and internships.
