The Genzinger String Quartet will play two eccentric and touching works from Haydn's maturity (Op. 54 #3 and Op. 55 #2) and a boisterous quartet by the young Beethoven (Op. 18 #1). Quartet members Evan Johnson, Mark Rike, Peggy Spencer, and Loretta O'Sullivan play on "period" instruments, with sheep gut strings, so that listeners can hear the sounds that 18th century composers had in mind.
