Midwinter's Tales: Miracles and Mirth - Oak Park River Forest Area Walk-In Ministry and Oak Park Festival Theatre's Sixth Annual Co-benefit - ONE NIGHT ONLY 7 PM December 8 at Unity Temple Celebrate the first night of Chanukah, set your heart for Christmas, or simply rollick in and relish the beauty and befuddlement that marks the last month of another year. This year's presentation Midwinter's Tales: Miracles and Mirth, is a celebration with words and music of the marvels and merriment of the season, performed in the breathtaking sanctuary of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple. Miracles and Mirth features entirely new, family friendly material than that heard in last year's acclaimed Midwinter's Tales: Peace, Joy, and Hope. Selections are drawn from authors such as Lemony Snicket, Daniel Pinkwater, Paul Rudnick, Mike Royko, Frank McCourt, and Maya Angelou read by Festival Theatre favorites Jack Hickey and Kevin Theis as well as neighbors Rose Meyer, Ken Trainor, Jerry Bloom, Lynda Shadrake and some wonderful Walk-In Ministry volunteers. Complementing the readings will be music by the Grace Episcopal Madrigal Singers, Ella Gill and Scott Daniel, Michael Swisher and others as well as a performance by dancers from the Maiden Street School of Irish Dance. The program is once again created and directed by the wonderfully talented Belinda Bremner. All are invited to a scrumptious seasonal reception following the performance in warm and welcoming Unity House. As always, bountiful baskets to savor or share will be raffled off at the end of the evening
