Celebrating its 52nd anniversary season, the Dorian Wind Quintet will perform Antonin Reicha’s Quintet in E-flat Major for Winds, Opus 88, No. 2; Bach organ works arranged for wind quintet; and Anniversary Variations on a Theme of Reicha. They will be joined by pianist Spencer Myer for the Ludwig Thuille Sextet in B-flat Major for Piano and Woodwind Quintet, Opus 6. Mr. Myer, Gold Medalist of the 2008 New Orleans International Piano Competition, is garnering critical acclaim from around the globe. His orchestral, recital, and chamber music performances have been heard throughout North America, Canada, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The Dorian Wind Quintet is consistently recognized for its uniquely polished and passionate performances. Since its formation at Tanglewood in 1961, the group has performed in the world’s most renowned concert halls, presenting repertoire that ranges from the Baroque to Pulitzer Prize-winning commissions. The quintet has toured the world, playing in Canada, Europe, and throughout the Middle East, India, Africa, and Asia. With a dedication to music education at all levels, the Dorian has served as the resident ensemble for several institutions, including the Mannes College of Music, the State University of New York System, England’s Dartington Hall, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Festival Institute at Round Top, Texas. Prior to the concert, enjoy a delicious three-course fixed-price dinner at 6:00 p.m. in the Clark Café.
