*RESCHEDULED TO APRIL 22: In their season finale, Gary Green and the Frost Wind Ensemble present David Maslanka’s Traveler, composed in contemplation of a friends’s retirement. Its moods range from triumphant and reflective about the past, to a positive and powerful projection about the future. Then, the ensemble invites bassoonist Luciano Magnanini to the stage to perform Gordon Jacob’s masterful Concerto for Bassoon, before his retirement in May from the Frost School of Music faculty. DMA candidate Michael Hancock also conducts Ingolf Dahl’s Hymn, an eloquent statement of faith that highlights beautifully the Frost Wind Ensemble’s magnificent harmonic blending and nuanced musicianship.
