The Hamptons Institute: Innovations in Education
Saturday, June 15, 2013
at John Drew Theater
158 Main Street
President Obama has called education equality “the civil rights issue of our time.” Parents, teachers, funders, students – everyone knows the key to a competitive U.S. workforce in the future is improving public education.
Join former CBS News Correspondent Jacqueline Adams as she probes a series of innovations intended to fix what’s wrong with panelists Kahlil Byrd, CEO of Students First; Josh Zoia, Superintendent of KIPP NYC and founder of the KIPP schools in Lynn, MA; Reena Bhatia, Vice President of Education Programs of the LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation), which provides low-cost financing options for school construction, freeing up more funds for the classroom; and Priscilla Campbell, a classroom teacher at East Hampton High School, President of the East Hampton Teacher’s Association and Chairperson of the Long Island President’s Council.
