“ … some of the most skillfully crafted, vividly realized songs anyone has written in Ireland over the past dozen years.”
- Earle Hitchner, writer/reviewer for Irish Echo and The Wall Street Journal on John Spillane
Curated by Susan McKeown, SongLives brings the rich tradition of busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street to the wonderful intimacy and acoustics of the Donaghy Theatre. This unique concert series features both established artists, as well as up-and-comers, as they share their songs and stories with IAC audiences.
Two-time Meteor award-winner and Cork native John Spillane is one of the most accomplished songwriters in Ireland today. Whether performing solo with guitar, with gentle accompaniment or with a full band before 100,000 audience members, John entertains, charms, and mesmerizes with his unique vocals—effortlessly flirting between beautiful poetry and roguish, irreverent Cork humor.
Past performers include Susan McKeown, Declan O’Rourke, Michael Brunnock, Brendan O’Shea, Mark Geary, Ann Scott, Niall Connolly, Wallis Bird, Anthony Mulcahy, Mundy, The Guggenheim Grotto, Jenna Nichols, Heathers, and Gerry Leonard.
