NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman joins the Frost Concert Jazz Band, Mark Egan, Danny Gottlieb, Mark Colby, The Miami Saxophone Quartet, Dean Shelly Berg and the entire jazz faculty, plus scores of alums spanning the 45 year history of UM Jazz, to honor and express their appreciation to Professor Emeritus Whit Sidener for his 40 years as an educator and chair of the Department of Studio Music Jazz. Net proceeds from this concert will benefit the Frost School of Music Whit Sidener Jazz Studio Complex Fund, to name a suite of jazz teaching studios in the new Patricia Louise Frost Music Studios, now under construction. An anonymous pledge for $10,000 toward the new fund was recently received, and this concert helps our campaign move forward. Individuals who contribute $100 ($20 non-deductible) or more to the fund by March 1 will receive free seating in a special dean’s guest section at the March 7 concert. Those who contribute $1,000 ($30 non-deductible) or more will also receive an invitation to a private pre-concert reception.
