Unsettled Dreams
Yossi Klein Halevi in conversation with Jeffrey Goldberg
Monday, November 17, 2014 at 7:30PM

Temple Israel
477 Longwood Ave.
Boston, MA 02215

Yossi Klein Halevi talks with Jeffrey Goldberg about his book Like Dreamers and the ways in which Israel has inspired a variety of utopian dreams – dreams that are often in stark conflict with one another. His book follows the stories of seven paratroopers who helped reunite Jerusalem in 1967, and the divergent ways they have tried to shape the history of their country. One emerges at the forefront of the religious settlement movement, while another helps create an anti-Zionist terror underground in Damascus. One becomes a driving force in the growth of Israel’s capitalist economy, while another ardently defends the socialist kibbutzim. Yossi Klein Halevi is a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, a contributing editor for the New Republic, and the author of two previous books. He will be interviewed by Jeffrey Goldberg, who has written about Israel for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and numerous other magazines. He is the author of Prisoners: A Muslim & A Jew Across the Middle East Divide.
