(Between 10th and 11th Avenues)
Take the C or E train to 50th St (8th Ave); the 1 train to 50th St (Broadway); or the N, R, or Q train to 49th St (7th Ave). Walk west towards 11th Ave. It is roughly a 10 minute walk. A parking garage is located on W. 51st between 10th and 11th Ave.

The legendary talk show host, New York Times columnist and raconteur Dick Cavett joins the Irish Arts Center to read from and discuss his new book, Brief Encounters: Conversations, Magic Moments, and Assorted Hijinks. In it, Cavett shares his reflections and reminiscences about Hollywood legends, American cultural icons and the absurdities of everyday life. He offers piquant commentary on contemporary politics, the indignities of travel, the nature of comedy writing and the utter improbability of being alive at all. Cavett will read his signature charming prose in Brief Encounters and will be joined in conversation with Frank Delaney. To spend a few minutes, or an hour, or even a whole evening with Dick Cavett is an experience not to be missed, and now there’s no reason to deny yourself!

"Funny and poignant stories and essays…So intelligent and witty and charming and innocent. Kinds of like Dick Cavett himself.” - Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show

"The book is a delightful peek behind the curtain at celebrities, complex characters, and the nuances of everyday life—all told with his singular wit and style." - Publishers Weekly
