One of the most original and gifted musicians on today’s jazz scene, the talented pianist and composer Tal Cohen is quickly becoming recognized in the international jazz scene. As the winner of numerous awards including the Grand Prize of the prestigious Barry Harris National Jazz Piano Competition and the Australian Rhythm Magazine “Album of the Year”, Tal was also the recipient of the rare “genius” visa to live and perform in the USA. To date, Tal has performed and toured with numerous jazz legends such as Joe Lovano, George Garzone, Ari Hoenig, Jamie Oehlers, Robert Hurst, and the Grammy award-winning Terence Blanchard Quintet. Tal is currently on tour in Australia with jazz icon Greg Osby.

Growing up in Gedera, Israel, Tal later moved to Perth, Australia where he continued his music studies, earning his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Now landing firmly in the USA, Cohen has performed at prestigious festivals and venues in New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Detroit, and Miami. Tal’s unique performance and compositional style has been described as unique blend of jazz, classical, and Jewish folk songs woven together in a cinematic fashion.

The special “CD Release” concert at the Arts Garage will feature music from his brand-new album “Gentle Giants”. Catch this rising star in the jazz world while you can. Not to be missed.
