Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade with David Perry, violin solo
Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture
DaughertyRaise the Roof (timpani concerto)

Through triumph and tragedy, journey with us as we follow great heroes in defiance of their fate. Rimsky-Korsakov's symphony honors the story-telling heroine of Middle Eastern folk tale Arabian Nights as she spins her tales over 1001 to protect overs from the cruel Sultan. Then journey to Verona as Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet tells the story of star-crossed lovers who rebel against their warring families with heartbreaking results. Finally, witness timpanist Robert Everson take on Daugherty's "joyous romp" (South Florida Classical Review) that defies tradition with unorthodox performance techniques.
