Catching Fireflies is a folk musical that centers on a writer and her queer friend group of artists stuck together in Philadelphia over the 2020 pandemic, and follows each of their journeys of self discovery over the year. It opens on these six friends at a Waffle House at 2am moments before the pandemic shut-down, each collectively realizing how precious time is. This propels each into their own exploration of love, sexuality, identity, and trauma past through confrontation and uncomfortability. Through intertwining love triangles and questioning of common queer stereotypes, each artist achieves a new perspective on the lifelong adventure of connecting to authenticity.
