Wenham, MA 01984

Please note that showtimes may overlap. Check showtimes as you add tickets. Neither leaving a show early nor arriving to a show late is permitted - so choose tickets accordingly!

Welcome to The Unknown Unknown! This festival of short plays and interactive theatre pieces is an entirely new type of production for the Gordon College Theatre Department, modeled after the world-famous Fringe Festival in Scotland.

Tickets are FREE, but please only get tickets if you definitely plan to attend! We want to perform to a full house at every show!

Take a chance on a different kind of production, something edgier – site-specific, physical, durational, one-person, interactive. They’re free – what have you got to lose except some time and maybe some misconceptions? Join us in exploring theatre like you may not have experienced before!

It’s 1854. The Fugitive Slave Act promotes the capture of runaway slaves and punishes those who help them. Abolitionist Salem, MA, has good opportunities to start a new life, but the better known Salem becomes the more enticing it is to bounty hunters. You are part of the committee of vigilance, a secret group of free born and formerly enslaved people, who must help two escaped slaves determine whether it’s safer to stay in Salem or flee further north on the underground railroad.

Pulled Under: A Physical Retelling of the 1916 Shark Attacks In New Jersey
directed by Jill Rogati
45 min

It is the hot summer of 1916. The cool water and medical benefits for those suffering from polio drive thousands of people into the sea, a new frontier with previously unknown dangers. Seven actors give an account of the first recorded close-to-shore shark attacks. Come wade into the water with us, without knowing what’s underneath.

I, Malvolio
by Tim Crouch
Daniel Lefferts and Jonathan Wacker, alternating performances
45 min

What happens after Malvolio becomes the laughingstock of Illyria? More important, who is really mad – the one who stands resolutely for order, courtesy and dignity or the impulsive jokesters and their companions who rashly end up in marriages on a whim? Take a look behind the scenes of Twelfth Night and make your own decision.
