Dr. John Alexander is the Director of Music and Principal Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC. In this role, he administers a multi-faceted music program including numerous ensembles and a concert series. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music in Organ Performance from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and the Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute. He studied with André Lash, Todd Wilson, and Robert Burns King. Dr. Alexander has appeared as a soloist and accompanist in notable venues across the United State and England including St. John the Divine, Washington National Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, and Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford. He has also appeared multiple times with the Eastern Music Festival under the direction of Gerard Schwartz. John is active in the American Guild of Organists having served as a Dean of the Greater Greensboro Chapter and played programs for various chapters and conventions across the Southeast.
