/TA•LA•GA/ expression Really or indeed; used often when gossiping.

“Through process, discussion, and ritual, talaga reimagines gossip through embodiment and conversation to preserve and reawaken filipinx culture, healing, and joy. Exciting, talaga?!”

Filipinx-American dancer, choreographer, and community organizer, Jay Carlon leads this gathering of community and connection. A hybrid of performance, installation and conversation, Jay and collaborators explore the intersections of their creative research and share details about their collaborative process and upcoming project, WAKE. We will eat, laugh, and share a little bit of tsismis (Tagalog for gossip). There will be rice.

TALAGA branches from the artist’s collective mission to unearth and reimagine the filipinx experience through performance. Their work seeks to strengthen, inspire, and connect the delicate and intimate web of Filipinx experimental creatives and audiences.

SEATING/ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: a combination of floor cushions and chairs will be available on a first come first serve basis. Please reach out to 62boxoffice@williams.edu for any questions, concerns, or requests.

The Queering Perspectives Festival interrogates conventional, culturally normative performance. We want to create a platform for the othered, experimental, and subversive, pushing the boundaries of their form in pursuit of new research and artistic production. QPF has the agenda of sparking new conversations about performance on campus. We want performance to be a springboard for conversation into sexualities, genders, bodies, races, ethnicities, abilities, and desires.
