The thirteen sketches of ReVUE range in mood from ribald and humorous to melancholic and haunting at Baruch Performing Arts Center’s Mason Hall at 17 Lexington Ave., NYC. Bell's ant hemic full-length work looks at aspects of beauty both extravagant and violent as well as the masculine gaze and the need to belong. Bell examines the framing of the form and the brutality of its imaging in contemporary culture. This fantastical and subtly spectacular work takes viewers through a dreamscape of personas that are simultaneously glamorous, destroyed, endangered, grotesque, and heroic. Bell used words as the driving force from which the performers' fantasies departed. The audience is led into a world of jockeys, ring leaders, cigarette ads, sad clowns, detached omniscient symbols, conjoined twins and many more.
