Letter of Marque in conjunction with Lady Plays Podcast will produce a series of “un-staged” readings of plays by women playwrights. The readings will be archived on iTunes as part of the Lady Plays podcast.
Three plays will be selected for a reading at the Irondale Center on
March 21st - Jessie Austrian (Fiasco Theater)
March 28th - Leese Walker (Strike Anywhere)
April 4th - Danya Taymor (Flea, Theater for a New Audience)
Through its production of Double Falsehood, Letter of Marque seeks to foster dialogue around ending rape culture in our communities, as well as engage new audiences, and build strategic partnerships and artistic collaborations.
Lady Plays Podcast curated by Kate O'Phalen and Lynde Rosario features new plays by female playwrights and provides a platform for female storytellers to have their voices heard. The idea is to offer a recording of an “un-staged” reading of the play and air it online, which lets theatre lovers indulge in theatre whenever and wherever they wish. Each episode employs a different female director and highlights plays of varying lengths, styles, and genres.
