She Loves Me
Margaret Jensen Theatre
Barrington Center for the Arts at Gordon College 255 Grapevine Road Wenham, MA 01984
The Gordon College Department of Theatre Arts presents their spring musical, She Loves Me, a heart-warming story about two feuding perfume clerks who individually find solace in secret romantic pen pals, not knowing they are writing to each other! Directed by Jeffrey S. Miller, with musical direction by Jessica Modaff, She Loves Me runs Jan. 25-27, 30-31, Feb. 1-3.
Originally set in 1930’s Budapest at Maraczek’s Perfumery, She Loves Me tells the story of George Nowack and Amalia Balash, clashing clerks who have both been writing and receiving anonymous love letters from a lonely-hearts ad in the newspaper and long to know who their admirers are. From a play that is also the basis of the classic film, You've Got Mail, She Loves Me is an evening of compelling song, comic whimsy, and surprising romance.
She Loves Me is performed by an ensemble of 17 Gordon College students. Performance will be held in The Margret Jensen Theatre, a blackbox theater that creates an intimate and engaging theatrical experience.
Written by Joe Masteroff, composed by Jerry Bock, and adapted from Parfumerie. Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick.
