PS18 Ain't you got the right to the tree of life

Dock Street Theatre Courtyard
135 Church St.
Suite 3800
Charleston, SC 29401

Dramatic readings and vignettes from an original script, based on the celebrated book by Guy and Candie Carawan, written by the Inspire Team at Backpack Journalists. The source material of essays, events, and historic figures presents a rich history of Johns Island, SC in the 1960's and celebrates the critical role the Lowcountry played in the Civil Rights Movement. Directed by Randy Neale. Produced by Linda Dennis, with permissions from the UGA Press. A Backpack Journalist is an organization dedicated to helping youth “find their voice” -- building resiliency through creative expression! This outdoor presentation is timed to encourage attendance at Ann Caldwell and the Magnolia Singers’ ticketed concert at City Gallery at 6:00pm that evening, which will bring to life the musical heritage documented in the book
