Buildings rust and crumble, old friends pass away, and papers disintegrate. Our projects are about racing against time, trying to get ahead so that we can preserve the past for those in the future. We are preserving a whole life’s work, one of the most fragile things in our culture. When my kids ask what their grandfather did, I want to show them. I don’t want to have to explain what was or how things used to be. I can take them to Spring Street or Marfa and say: Here, look. This is what one person can do, if they are stubborn enough and have enough help. This is where you come in. We are sharpening our pencils, cleaning our trowels, and spooling our magnetic tape. We need your help in these efforts. We are here to make something for people who are small now, for kids who have a sense of wonder, for people who might not have been around in the 70s when all of this was happening. We are here, as a small group, to preserve that future for them. This is not for us, we were there. This is for the people who will come, people who have yet to discover Don’s work and spaces. Our past is their future and we have to make it, to preserve it, now, in the present. Please join us in building this. Join our small, stubborn group who say: yes, some things are worth fighting for. Be stubborn. Onward friends, Flavin Judd and Rainer Judd
