Crane River Theater is excited to present our very own storybook! This delightful children’s book features beautiful images of Nebraska wildlife. It tells the story of a river that has no name, which leads all the animals help find a perfect name for the little river.

The story is written by Mary Henning, and illustrated by Bob Heiden, both members of the Crane River Theater Board of Directors. As Mary was working on the story, she decided it would be a perfect fit for Crane River Theater. Bob chose to use watercolors for all of the illustrations, to parallel the story of the river. Both donated all their time and effort in creating the book, and agreed that all proceeds from the book should go directly to Crane River Theater.

Crane River Theater partnered with Morris Publishing to print the book, helping support another local business right here in Kearney.

This 26-page story is designed for children, but can be enjoyed by all ages! Each book is just $20. You can order them online at, or by calling the Crane River Theater office at 308-627-5796. All proceeds will go directly to Crane River Theater productions and arts education programs.
